Family Literacy Teacher / Assessor _ 56% Part – time

We currently seek a part-time Family Literacy Teacher to join our dedicated staff.
Responsibilities:
• Teach 2 six hour per week ABE/GED classes (People’s Emergency Center sites: Gloria’s Place and Jannie’s Place )
• Incorporate computer literacy into lessons
• Assist in identifying qualified program participants based off Family Literacy eligibility requirements
• Conduct Adult and Child Assessments according to schedule, as required
• Show EFL gains, and assist in transition of learners to employment or post-secondary transition where possible.
• Comply with all benchmark standards that are part of Family Literacy contract.
• Submit all Family Literacy required data and reports in timely fashion.
• Attend Family Literacy Team and General Staff meetings each month.
• Participate in at least one CFL committee.
• Attend a minimum of 10 hours Professional Development each year.
• Maintain good working relationship with the host site.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Must be well-organized and able to multi-task.
• Basic technology skills
• Previous background in working with parents of school age children.
• Thorough knowledge of ABE/GED best practices with demonstrated background in successful benchmark attainment of ABLE Core Outcomes.
• For internal candidates: Must have consistently remained current with CFL’s paperwork and testing requirements.
Reports to: Family Literacy Program Manager
Job Classification: Regular, part-time, exempt
Salary: $16.00 per hour; 21 hours per week (12 hours – instructional, 3 hours – assessment, 6 hours – prep)
Schedule: Jannie’s Place: Mondays 9 – 3pm; Gloria’s Place: Tuesday and/or Thursday 10 – 1 and /or 12-3 pm)
Location: West Philadelphia (in the vicinity of 39th and Lancaster Ave.)
