UW asks for pledges to help youth succeed
Education is a building block for a good life, stable employment and a stronger community. As job markets have tightened, it has become more urgent than ever to educate the workforce of the future.
But the playing field isn’t level for all students. That’s why United Way Worldwide is seeking people to take the pledge to become volunteer readers, tutors and mentors. Even an hour or two can make a difference, and give students the boost they need to succeed.
The pledge is just the beginning. After you’ve pledged, you can register for the United Way Volunteer Reader, Tutor and Mentor Orientation webcast. Hear from experienced readers, tutors and mentors and learn how to get started in your community. There’s no cost, and it’s a great way to spend your lunch hour.
