Volunteering Info Session, UrbanPromise
Posted by on September 12, 2011
Interested in volunteering? Please join us on September 19th for an informative evening on the volunteer experience at UrbanPromise.
UrbanPromise currently serves more than 500 youth in the city of Camden and has more than 100 dedicated volunteers. However, in order to continue to provide superior programming and meet our ongoing needs, we require additional volunteer support in the following areas: tutoring for K-12th grade, administrative/clerical and fundraising assistance, classroom aides, facilities and vehicle maintenance, SAT tutors, visiting artists, photographers, graphic artists, and much more.
If you are interested in volunteering this upcoming year, we encourage you to attend our training and orientation night and become better acquainted with UrbanPromise staff and mingle with current volunteers.
The evening’s program will include:
• Brief history of UrbanPromise with Dr. Bruce Main
• Overview of the impact of our volunteers
• Conversation with Jodina Hicks on UrbanPromise’s priorities and vision
• Panel discussion with staff, students, parents, current volunteers
• Insight on issues facing Camden youth
• Sharing of volunteer thoughts, perceptions and expectations
• Review of the “do’s” and “don’ts” regarding appropriate behavior
• Look at the year ahead with program calendar and upcoming events
