3rd Civic Engagement Expo set for 9/11 Day of Service
As a part of citywide efforts to commemorate the September 11th, 2001 tragedy and the National Day of Service and Remembrance, Global Citizen, Greater Philadelphia Cares and SERVE Philadelphia are hosting their 3rd Annual Civic Engagement Expo. Nonprofit organizations can host a table at the expo to promote their work and recruit new volunteers.
The event will take place on Sunday, September 11th from 3pm to 6pm at Independence Mall.
Tables are free and can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. To participate, organizations must have the need and capacity to sign up volunteers on the spot for ongoing or periodic service opportunities. In previous years, organizations that participated in the civic engagement expo recruited over 400 volunteers.
The Civic Engagement Expo is a part of a larger effort to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the September 11 tragedy. Throughout the day, other activities will take place on Independence Mall and in nearby venues, ensuring a large turnout of potential volunteers. The day will conclude with a public ceremony featuring Mayor Michael Nutter and special guests.
