We can’t change the weather in Philadelphia but we can change Philadelphia! Community organizing can make real change happen here.
That’s why Bread & Roses supports organizations like yours working for social justice and I am pleased to announce that Bread & Roses’ Barbara Smith Community School is hosting a workshop on the fundamentals of community organizing during the second week of August.
This is a great opportunity to learn techniques for effective organizing from experts and other leaders in community organizations around Philadelphia.

This workshop will be led by:
Fred Ginyard, lead organizer of YUC
Craig Robbins, executive director of ACTION United
Kati Sipp, executive vice president & political director of SEIU Philadelphia.
This workshop will explain the intricacies of direct action organizing. We’ll talk about successful strategies to plan, organize and lead a campaign to victory.

The Barbara Smith Community School offers workshops, seminars, and an annual retreat designed to improve the abilities of groups working to redistribute power and resources, especially those led by poor and working-class people; people of color; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people; those with disabilities; and others working for fundamental social change.
