Minimum Experience:     Previous experience in project management or in community service leadership preferred.
Skills/Abilities/Knowledge/Other Requirements:     1. Qualified candidates should be self-motivated, well-organized, and passionate about engaging students in community service.
2. Ability to multitask and handle a wide range of duties on a daily basis is a must.
3. Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel preferred.
4. Flexible scheduling with some weekend and evening hours required.

Overall Purpose and Responsibility:     The Bonner AmeriCorps Leader Program at Burlington County College seeks to increase and support students’ contributions to their communities. Through on-going, long-term service with community partners, students enrolled in the program as part-time AmeriCorps members are encouraged to develop projects, engage with social issues, and think critically about community assets and needs. These students form the program’s cohort, implementing programs and shaping program priorities that address community-identified needs and raise awareness around social issues. Student members and program staff work closely with the Office of Student Affairs and the Liberal Arts department of the college to bring service- and issue-based events to the campus.

The college is looking to expand this program by increasing the number of student AmeriCorps members, further developing community partner sites, and organizing more campus-wide and community-wide events that support our goal of engaging students in community service and service-learning projects.

Summary Description:     The Bonner AmeriCorps Coordinator is a fulltime AmeriCorps member whose primary role will be to work on recruiting new members, strengthening community partnerships, and supporting student leadership as members plan campus-wide and community-wide events that promote student engagement in the community. The college is also interested in expanding our service-learning program; the coordinator will work with the Service-Learning Coordinator to expand service-learning options by continuing to connect professors with program events and partners.

INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS

Accepts responsibility for the timely preparation of student outcomes assessment efforts of the faculty in planning, collecting data, and reporting dates as they relate to course outcomes, program outcomes, general education outcomes, and developmental program outcomes. Actively participates in setting annual division goals and objectives, completing OIR reporting forms, collecting data, analyzing data, and preparing a report using guidelines established by OIR.

Specific Duties:     1) Recruiting and supporting new and existing Bonner AmeriCorps Leaders.
2) Running weekly meetings and retreats with student members and site leaders.
3) Contacting and meeting with community partners to support partner site needs and goals.
4) Organizing campus-wide and community-wide service events that promote student engagement in the community.
5) Working with our public relations staff to increase press surrounding the program.
6) Organizing fundraising opportunities.
7) Completing managerial duties such as monitoring member hours, clerical documentation, updating the website, and keeping in regular contact with community partners.
8) Meeting with faculty and staff to pair interested individuals with community partners and program events.
9) Meeting with and developing service projects in conjunction with NJ Democracy House partners, Middlesex County College and Mercer County Community College.

Additional Duties:
Special Instructions to Applicants     Salary Range: $16,000 living stipend and $5,500 educational award along with health benefits and child care benefits if needed.
