Director of Business Development

Responsibilities
OICI seeks a dynamic Director of Business Development to lead its overall fundraising and donor engagement effort in a time of organizational transformation and renewal. The candidate must have experience in researching and identifying potential industry and government partners; initiating contact and meeting with prospective partners; and preparing technical proposals, budgets, and presentations. Database maintenance, including partner contact information and interaction history a must. The candidate must be able in the first year to raise a predetermined amount of unrestricted funds.

This individual must be exceedingly well organized and flexible, demonstrate federal contracting expertise, have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and enjoy business development and marketing challenges of a growing organization. The individual must be able to monitor joint funding opportunities with partners; develop creative promotional materials for the organization to include the web site, publications, and press releases. The candidate will work closely with senior management in strategically planning the direction for business development and overall initiatives of the organization.

The candidate will be accountable for business development results, monitoring staff productivity in the development area and recommending policy changes and training to improve results. Additionally, the individual will monitor project status in relation to deadlines/projections by utilizing project management software and provide development progress and productivity updates on a regular basis.

Qualifications
Must have at least four (4) years of experience in federal, private and foundation business development responsibilities with demonstrated success. A BA/BS degree is required with at least six (6) years of work experience in business development; and an MA/MS degree is preferred. Strong marketing background preferred.

Candidate must work in collaboration and cooperation for the success of the team and the overall organization. Be capable of making sound decisions in the absence of detailed instructions. Demonstrate the ability to develop innovative and timely solutions to problems, and excels in multi-tasking.
