Program Director Job Description
Organizational Overview:
iPRAXIS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit located in the University City Science Center. Our mission is to encourage universities and the regional bioscience industry to support science education and entrepreneurship activities for underrepresented communities. We are primarily a volunteer driven organization with a small talented staff. We currently operate two programs: iNSPIRE, designed to enrich the delivery of science education in some of Philadelphia’s lowest-performing neighborhood schools, and bench2BUSINESS; our initiative to increase the participation of minority scientists in biotechnology commercialization.
Position Overview:
Specific Responsibilities:
• Lead all planning sessions with teachers and school district staff to understand most-pressing needs.
• Creation of all orientation, program, & reporting materials
• Supervision of staff and providing staff training
• Program and staff evaluations
• Locating all materials & resources for programs
• Oversee all Program administrative and managerial duties
• Establish marketing/public relations programs and maintain website and social media outlets
• Manage existing and new partnerships
• Developing relationships with the local, regional, and national STEM community
• Recruit, train, and place all volunteers for all iPRAXIS STEM programs
• Managing Board communications, meetings and other activities as it relates to programs
• Prepare program reports for funders
• Speak at conferences and sit on panels as representative of iPRAXIS
• Research any and all related programs throughout the United States to know best practices and most relevant research.
• Track all program spending
• Ensure that all programs are in line with legal requirements
• Develop curriculum & timelines for all programs
• Serve as trouble-shooter for all volunteers.
• Adjust all program models when necessary.
• Serve as Scienteer whenever needed.
• Develop or obtain any and all necessary curriculum material as related to programming.
• Manage the planning and delivery of iFunction Awards Ceremony.
• Maintain close communication with Scienteers, partner teachers, & and iPraxis staff to ensure successful delivery of programming.
Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate has exceptional writing skills, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social services, marketing, business, education, or a related field. Experience in science education is desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) is necessary.
Prior work experience in volunteer coordination, fundraising, and grant writing sought. The position requires strong customer service, effective communication skills and an ability to work well under pressure, simultaneously manage multiple assignments, and consistently meet deadlines. Must be detail-oriented and well-organized.
