Call for Proposals: Poverty and Environmental Education issue of Green Teacher
The Green Teacher is now accepting proposals for submissions for a theme-based issue on poverty and “environmental education”. The issue will explore the interaction of economic, social and environmental effects of poverty and sustainability and how different socio-economic classes view sustainable living. The majority of the issue will focus on more practical and applicable ideas including;
• action projects which support environmental sustainability within low income communities
• how to educate middle-class students about poverty and sustainability
• how to develop curriculum for low income communities which connects economic, social and environmental issues
• how to support and identify educator competencies within low socioeconomic communities focused on sustainability
• projects that mediate poverty and social justice at the local or global level
• projects highlighting emerging pedagogies (place-based methodologies, inquiry, experiential pedagogies) within low socioeconomic communities.
All proposals for submissions are due on or before June 30, 2011. Those submitting proposals will receive a response by July 8th. The deadline for final submissions is August 20th, but earlier submissions will be welcomed, especially from those wanting comments. Proposals and submission are to be submitted to:
