Clean Diesel and Community Health Coordinator
Function: To assist in Clean Air Council’s efforts to reduce goods movement related pollution. This position is full-time.
CAC Goods Movement Initiative: The Council works with Delaware River Port Authorities (Philadelphia and Wilmington) and associated industries to reduce emissions and support other port greening efforts. Projects include the Mid-Atlantic Green Operator Program, that works to retrofit and replace older short-haul heavy-duty vehicles, Diesel Difference, a multi-stakeholder group dedicated to voluntary diesel reductions, anti-idling campaigns, and other port emission reduction efforts. The Council is also conducting community-based participatory research in port neighborhoods on the impact of truck traffic and air pollution on community health.
This position is based at the Clean Air Council’s main office in Philadelphia, however 2-3 days per week may be spent in the Clean Air Council’s Wilmington, Delaware office. Valid drivers license required.
Responsibilities:
• Program management: directing and coordinating the planning, organization, and administration of the transportation program.
• Supervision of junior staff and program interns.
• Outreach to industry stakeholders.
• Community Organizing and outreach.
• Write copy, press releases and other documentation for distribution.
• Writing/editing funding proposals for transportation-related work.
Requirements:
• Demonstrated project and people management ability.
• Demonstrated grant-writing and fundraising skills.
• Solid research and writing skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Independent and self-motivated, yet work well with others.
• Enthusiastic and interested in environmental issues, particularly environmental justice.
Education:
Masters of Public Health, Public Policy, or related field preferred, or at least 2-3 years experience in related field.
Salary commiserate with experience.
