Posted by on May 09, 2011
The Pennsylvania Statewide Afterschool/Youth Development Network (PSAYDN) would like to invite experienced afterschool trainers to attend a National Institute for Out-of-School Time (NIOST) Links to Learning – Train the Trainer Training on Tuesday, June 21 – Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Center for Schools and Communities, 275 Grandview Avenue, Suite 200, Camp Hill, PA 17011. Participants are required to attend both days of the training.
The training supports practitioner understanding of the role of afterschool in providing program activities that can support and complement school day learning while maintaining a framework that reflects programs’ core values, meets the needs of children and youth and is accessible to and supportive of staff. Participants will learn how to guide curriculum planning in afterschool and how to link activities to learning standards and quality standards. The content also explores theme and project-based learning and how they are beneficial to children in afterschool programs. The content of the training will prepare instructors to deliver Links to Learning Foundations.
Modules covered in the training: Theoretical Framework, Curriculum Planning Basics, Linking Activities to Benchmarks and Standards, Theme and Project-Based Learning, Communicating and Coordinating with Schools, and Family Engagement.
