Position: IPS Counselor
Supervisor: IPS Supervisor

Overview of Position/General Responsibilities
Intensive Prevention Services is a new prevention-oriented service, one in a continuum, supported by the Philadelphia Department of Human Services. The purpose is to promote pro-social behavior for at-risk youth by providing a comprehensive set of services. The IPS Counselor will be part of a team serving up to 17 youth at any given time.

Duties

• Conduct intake and assessment with particular focus on behavioral health issues
• Prepare ISP in conjunction with other IPS team members
• Provide individual and family counseling
• Facilitate group work sessions with youth
• Conduct home visits
• Refer, link and follow up with collateral agencies to ensure that youth and/or families are receiving necessary, specialized services
• Participate in regular supervisory sessions and attend all team meetings
• In conjunction with IPS Supervisor ensure that AmeriCorps volunteers have regular assignments
• Maintain case files including case notes from individual and group sessions, needed documentation as well as entering data into DHS system as needed
• Attend agency, DHS and other related agency meetings
• Attend training
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• MSW or Masters in related field
• At least 4 years of direct and supervisory experience in child welfare, youth work or related area; group work experience a plus
• Familiarity with family counseling and adolescent development
• Ability to work with diverse population and to work as a member of a team
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
