**Tina Rosenberg is the author of Join the Club: How Peer Pressure Can Transform the World. Her last book, The Haunted Land: Facing Europe’s Ghosts After Communism, won the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award. She also writes the Fixes column online for the New York Times and contributes to the Times Sunday magazine. She was for ten years an editorial writer for the Times, and has been a freelance contributor to The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Rolling Stone and other magazines. Ms. Rosenberg is also the first freelance journalist to have received a five-year MacArthur Fellowship “genius” award.
