Net Tuesday reschedules web privacy, social change discussion
Privacy on the web, especially as it relates to social change, is a crucially important and timely issue.
Rescheduled from February 1st, Philly Net Tuesday will sponsor Privacy & Social Change on the Web on Tuesday, March 1st, at the Friends Center, 1501 Cherry Street in Philadelphia, starting at 6pm.
The event will feature guest speakers touching on several aspects of this issue to stimulate the discussion, including Hannah Miller, formerly of the Media and Democracy Coalition, on privacy and online organizing for social change; Ivan Boothe, of Rootwork.org, on organizing communities in which anonymity is important; Mario Rodriguez, a doctoral candidate at the Annenberg School for Communication in the area of social network privacy, on how individuals and organizations can be aware of the privacy implications of how they use the social web; and Andrew Sather, of Jenkins Law Library, on privacy and an organization’s presence on the web.
RSVPs are appreciated but not required. To register, go here.
