PUBLIC INTEREST LAW CENTER OF PHILADELPHIA—DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR POSITION

The Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia, the region’s most prominent public interest law firm which uses high impact legal strategies to improve the well-being and life prospects of the region’s most vulnerable populations, seeks a development director.

The Development Director is responsible for all aspects of fundraising and marketing for the organization which includes preparing and implementing the annual development plan; developing and overseeing large and small events; oversight and marketing of training programs; solicitations of individual donors, law firms and corporations; preparation of foundation proposals and reports; communications with press and general public; oversight of online presence, including website, face book and other online databases on which the Law Center is featured;  executing special projects and general outreach.

The Development Director reports directly to the Executive Director and supervises a paralegal who has responsibility for certain communications and event planning responsibilities.  The Development Director works closely with the Comptroller/Business Manager in tracking fundraising revenue and developing foundation proposals.  The Development Director coordinates and provides support to the fundraising committee of the board of directors.  The Development Director can take advantage of regular volunteer assistance to perform appropriate tasks.

Applicants must:  have a minimum of two years’ relevant work experience; demonstrate planning and organizational skills; show creativity and initiative; project a confident, professional image for the Law Center; demonstrate commitment to the Law Center’s mission; provide enthusiastic and energetic leadership; work well with others inside and outside of the organization; exhibit familiarity and flexibility with excel, databases and on-line tools, such as Event Brite; demonstrate skill and experience at supervising others; have good writing skills.
