Let’s Move website offers help to child obesity efforts
As America moves towards raising a generation of healthier kids, the resources developed and studies conducted to find solutions to the problem of childhood obesity continue to multiply. From First Lady Michelle Obama’s launch of the Childhood Obesity Task Force as part of her Let’s Move to a recent study on preschool children to a new website to assist schools, the movement is redirecting how American families think when it comes to their children’s health.
The Let’s Move campaign website highlights the glaring statistics of the weight problems that have grown in the United States over the past three decades. Today, nearly one in three children in the nation is obese. The stats also show that one third of all children born in 2000 or later will suffer from diabetes and that many children will face chronic obesity-related health problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer and asthma.
