Position Title: Assistant Community Organizer
Logan CDC is a community development corporation serving the Logan neighborhood of Philadelphia. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life for residents and businesses through a broad range of revitalization efforts, including transformative community and economic development, commercial corridor and affordable housing development, and community-‐focused education and organizing. A key project is the Logan Neighborhood Advisory Committee (NAC), which seeks to promote collaboration and cooperation between Logan CDC, the city of Philadelphia, residents, and area businesses.
We are currently looking for a part-‐time assistant to assist the Logan NAC community organizer in executing various projects and activities.
Major Objectives:
1. Help NAC Community Organizer to distribute timely information about programs and services to Logan residents.
2. Help NAC Community Organizer maintain NAC databases, office hours, monthly reports and other correspondence.
3. Assist NAC Community Organizer with documenting, reporting, and following-‐up on quality of life issues in the Logan community.
4. Assist NAC Community Organizer with coordinating monthly and quarterly community meetings.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Help NAC Community Organizer increase awareness of the Logan NAC in the Logan community.
2. Support Logan CDC and the NAC Community Organizer in gathering information about block captains, townwatch leaders, abandoned properties, vacant lots, neighborhood nuisances, housing stock, and other areas that impact quality of life.
Qualifications:
1. GED or High School Diploma.
2. Good communication and writing skills.
3. Transportation (by personal car or public transportation) to the NAC office, as well as community meetings, is necessary.
4. Must be reliable and have a good work ethic.
