POSITION: AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM COORDINATOR
SALARY: PART-TIME/FLEXIBLE
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: DIRECTOR OF FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES
Friends Neighborhood Guild has been a community anchor for 130 years. The Guild was created to serve and respond to community needs and has been a leader in developing educational programming, providing social services and engaging the community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The After School Program coordinator is responsible for management of elementary and middle year after school programming.
Specific tasks include (but are not limited to):
PLANNING:
– Recruit elementary and middle school students for programs.
– Coordinate logistics and scheduling for designated programs.
– Develop curricula and lesson plans for programs.
– Plan special events for students including, academic and leadership recognition.
– Prepare reports regarding after school programs.
– Make sure supplies, materials and program equipment are available for program activities.
– Participate in community development, education and relationship building.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT:
– Implement literacy programming, i.e. YET
– Manage/monitor compliance issues with regulatory and funding sources.
– Complete paperwork, forms, schedules required for successful program.
– Manage weekday after school programs and Saturday community programs, when applicable.
– Coordinate, monitor and track tutoring/academic achievement sessions with scholars & tutors.
– Introduce cultural programs that will develop youth’s self-awareness and responsibility.
– Schedule and facilitate monthly parent meetings.
– Collect and record parent fees
– Participate in the evaluation of implemented programs, i.e. YET Literacy Program.
– Attend all trainings scheduled by regulatory and funding sources.
SUPERVISION:
• Participate in hiring and supervision of after school staff, volunteers and interns.
• Participate in recruitment of volunteer staff
• Coordinate goal planning/training with staff to fulfill PA STARS requirements.
• Organize in-house and off site training for all after school staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 2-3 years experience in direct services with youth programs. Ability to relate positively and effectively with children, youth, parents and other professionals in various fields.
• Associate’s degree in child development or related field required; Bachelor’s degree in child development or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of Keystone Stars and Child Care Information Services.
• Excellent written and oral communication and management skills.
• Ability to manage staff daily specific to program goals and initiatives.
• Ability to pass all background clearances and TB tests.
• Ability to represent Director at meetings, conferences and negotiations.
• Computer literacy; knowledge of Microsoft Office and other customized software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Committed to working with under-served youth
• Skilled in one or more of the following: drama, music, chess, dance, arts & crafts, language, computer
