Applications for ELP’s 2011 Fellowship Classes are Now Open!

Environmental Leadership Program is now accepting applications for its 2011 New England and Eastern Regional Fellowship Classes. If you’re committed to increasing your leadership capacity, expanding your professional network and viewing your work from a whole new perspective then ELP is the program for you. Fellows in our 2011 classes will receive:

* 10 days of intensive training over the course of 3 multi-day retreats.
* Guidance and support during the creation of their Personal Leadership Plan
* Peer Mentoring
* Expansion of their professional network
* Opportunity to share their work with a diverse national audience

The Fellowship Program targets emerging environmental and social change practitioners eager to connect their specialized work to larger environmental and social concerns. ELP is committed to selecting a class of Fellows that represents diversity of race and ethnicity, gender, sector, sexual orientation, education levels, professional background, values and traditions, and environmental issue expertise.

The Fellowship Program offers intensive leadership and skill training, regional networking opportunities, and time for personal and professional reflection. Consisting of three retreats and additional optional trainings, our curriculum helps emerging leaders hone their leadership styles, improve their strategic communications, and strengthen their outreach to diverse constituencies.

Retreats lie at the heart of the ELP Fellowship. During overnight gatherings in a residential setting, Fellows learn the practical skills of public leadership, develop a strong peer network, and explore ways to achieve lifelong personal and professional goals.  Retreat activities include hands-on training, community-building activities, and participatory group discussions.  Fellows participate in discussions on the diversity of the environmental field; the current state and future of the environmental movements; and the complexities of building diverse coalitions. In addition, Fellows engage in peer-learning sessions on current environmental issues, discussions with established environmental leaders, and conversations about leadership. Retreats offer a structured opportunity for personal reflection and are a critical component to helping Fellows form a collaborative and supportive peer network.
