New Report: Scaling Microlending in the United States
Posted by on August 13, 2010
The path to scale for U.S. microlenders has always been challenging, and never more so than during these economically tumultuous times. FIELD’s (http://www.fieldus.org) new publication, Dollars for Dreams: Scaling Microlending in the United States, discusses the experiences and lessons learned by five leading U.S. microfinance organizations in increasing their microlending, even in the face of our country’s recent financial crises.

Dollars for Dreams explores the practice of five U.S. microfinance organizations that participated in the Scale Academy for Microenterprise Development. It summarizes strategies and tactics used by these lenders – including sections on market research and marketing, product development, structure and staffing, risk management and geographic expansion, among others.
Also, for ideas on how donor resources can help microlenders in these efforts, see FIELD’s recent Funder Guide 15: Scaling Microlending in a Changed Economy.
