Summer Institute in Service-Learning

Register now for the 7th Annual Summer Institute in Service-Learning in Austin, Texas, on June 16-18, 2010! Hosted by Service Learning Texas, a statewide initiative of Region 14 Education Service Center and the Texas Education Agency, the Summer Institute will include workshops by national and state presenters on effective strategies for growing, improving, and sustaining service-learning practice in K-12 schools and a special track sponsored by State Farm on service-learning and disaster preparedness.
Featured presenters include Cathy Berger Kaye, Jim Toole, Tracy Harkins, Joan Liptrot, Julene Reed, and Barry Guillot. Special events include a service-learning showcase, musical entertainment by the Ruby Jane Band, and a film screening of One Peace at a Time with staff of the Nobelity Project. Participants can register at the rate of $325 by May 31 for the full Institute and $95 for a preconference session on Service-Learning 101 with Cathy Berger Kaye. (The newly revised The Complete Guide to Service-Learning is including with the preconference registration.)
The SLT Summer Institute is supported through funding from the Learn and Serve America Program of the Corporation for National and Community Service and from the Texas Zone of State Farm Insurance.
