The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program unites artists and communities through a collaborative process, rooted in the traditions of mural-making, to create art that transforms public spaces and individual lives. Since its inception in 1984, Mural Arts has created more than 3,000 community driven murals and provided thousands of under-served youth and adults with award-winning arts education programming.

City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program – Art Education Department

Mural Arts’ art education department serves over 1,500 youth annually, many of whom are referred to our programs because they are truant, delinquent or adjudicated, through free out-of-school time art education programs in neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. The commitment to this audience has its roots in the early history of the organization (then known as the Philadelphia Anti-Graffiti Network) when the program was seen as a way of channeling creative energy toward positive outcomes for the youth themselves and the communities in which they live.

Job Summary

Mural Arts is seeking a well-organized, skilled administrator to provide financial, logistical and communications support to an experienced team of mural project managers and serve as liaison between and among the art education project managers and design review, finance, operations, and public engagement functions.

Qualifications include:

The ideal candidate will be experienced in project administration and logistics for visual arts or public art programs, budget monitoring and reporting, skilled in verbal and written communications (including basic graphic design), able to keep multiple projects moving simultaneously, and at ease with a fast-paced, team-based working environment. BA or BS degree preferred.

Preferred skills include:

Two years of dedicated experience in project management support, gracious and efficient communications skills in with community residents, organizational partners, educators and public arts professionals, a background in visual arts (murals or public art are ideal), complete fluency in all applications of Microsoft Office, Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) and knowledge of project management, financial and database software; a valid driver’s license.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Project Manager.
