Achieving Independence Center- Youth Development Specialist.

The Achieving Independence Center, a one-stop service center for youth aging out of foster care, is seeking a Youth Development Specialist.  The position reports to the Director and is responsible for the overall direction, structure and engagement of members when they are not involved in workshops or other staff-member interactions.  The Youth Development Specialist will work with members in groups and individually and will facilitate the organization of formal and informal activities that promote member development, growth and independence.

Qualified individuals will have knowledge of resources available to assist AIC members in moving toward independence; knowledge of human development for individuals ages 16 to 21; experience working with youth in out-of-home placement; excellent verbal and written communication skills, mediation, conflict resolution and behavior management skills, experience in group work and facilitation; ability to work well with teens; ability to maintain boundaries; and cultural sensitivity.  Bi-lingual candidates are preferred.

Candidates must have a BA/BS  (Master Preferred) in Social Works, Human Development, Recreational Therapy, Psychology, Education or related field with three years of proven experience in working with individuals ages 16 to 21 (or similar population).
