Taller Puertorriqueño is seeking to hire Youth Counselors to work part-time with the Cultural Enrichment Program (CEP) during the summer and year round. Youth Counselors work directly with children between the ages of 5 – 15 under the supervision of the CAP/ACE Manager. YOUTH COUNSELOR (Summer & Year Round)

OBJECTIVE    Seeking qualified individuals interested in a career as a youth counselor and/or future teaching artists.

PROFILE        Positive attitude, responsible, punctual, self motivated, and well organized. Excellent communication and writing skills.

DESCRIPTION

  • Assist students with homework and school projects, especially reading, writing and math.
  • Escort students to restrooms, classes, and on trips.
  • Assist the Homework teacher with food services and clean up.
  • Plan activities for Fun Fridays and special days with the help of the homework teacher.
  • Provide assistance to the art/performance teacher(s) with projects and group management.

EDUCATION    High School graduate with practical experience in childcare or college student with childcare experience or studying in the field.

SKILLS                 Able to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team. Knowledge of how to handle and resolve problems in the classroom. Knowledge of the Spanish language is a plus.

REQUIREMENTS
Current Criminal Check Record, PA Child Abuse Statement and FBI Clearance. Pennsylvania Resident.
