Young Voters Event

Posted by Public Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY) on April 13, 2015

Education Funding in Pennsylvania is broken.

Pennsylvania’s school districts have the most inequitable spending for poor students in the nation, according to the U.S. Department of Education. As one of three states without a common sense funding formula, PA students face unpredictable and unfair funding from year to year.

This budget season, PCCY is convening a group of Young Voters for Schools who are unified in their belief that increased and equitable funding for education must be a top priority for the Pennsylvania Legislature. On April 22nd we’ll travel together to Harrisburg to hold a press conference, meet with legislators face to face, and show support for a formula that’s fair to our students, schools, and taxpayers.

If you share our belief that every child in Pennsylvania deserves a quality education, and that school funding should be equitable and predictable year to year you can help.

There are two ways to get involved:

• Organizational partners who would like to co-sponsor this event with their logo and sign on to our press release.

• Partners to send staff members to support this nonpartisan day of advocacy and see democracy in action.

We hope you will consider joining PCCY in supporting a fair funding formula by signing on as a partner and/or sending staff on April 22nd. Pease fill in the form below and send along with logo to Shaneeg@pccy.org by April 15th to be listed as a partner. Staff can RSVP at http://www.pccy.org/actiondays or call 215-563-5848 (ex 36).
