Delaware Valley Earth Force Presents
Watershed Facilitators Institute

Sponsored in part by the PA Department of Environmental Protection

August 9th ? 12th 2004

Our vision is to create a network of facilitators with the skills, knowledge and resources needed to conduct Earth Force Watershed Protection Workshops in their schools and in their communities.

Delaware Valley Earth Force and Temple University?s Center for Sustainable Communities are proud to present a four day institute for educators in partnership with the American Red Cross, Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust, Silver Lake Nature Center and Churchville Nature Center. This institute is designed to train educators in Earth Force?s community action and problem solving (CAPS) teaching strategy and to examine and explore watersheds. Attending this institute will provide each facilitator the opportunity to:

  • Experience an interactive approach to learning about watersheds
  • Learn water quality testing and monitoring techniques
  • Investigate storm water management and flooding issues
  • Learn how Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are used in environmental decision-making today
  • Hear from experts about the past, present and future of our watersheds
  • Explore the Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust
  • Earn Act 48 credits
  • Develop training programs for fellow educators and community leaders
  • Earn stipends for providing these professional development programs in schools and the community

Please join us for four days of examination, exploration and fun. Space is limited so call Megan or Sheri today at 215/884-9888 for an application. We look forward to hearing from you!
