Job description
Gift of Life Donor Program, the nation’s leading organ procurement organization, is responsible for recovering and distributing organs and tissues used in life-saving and life-enhancing transplants in eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Volunteer Professional to oversee and coordinate Gift of Life Donor Program volunteer programs designed to increase public awareness and commitment to organ and tissue donation and transplantation, including Gift of Life Donor Program and Family House.

You will work collaboratively with the Volunteer Liaison and other program staff to develop and implement a well-defined recruitment, orientation and training program to Gift of Life volunteers, such as Leadership Summits, Speaker’s Trainings, etc; Develop and implement recognition programs for volunteers, including any annual/semi-annual or other special events; Develop and coordinate volunteer support for signature events (e.g. Dash). Represent Gift of Life at community speaking programs when necessary; Support program staff in identifying and scheduling volunteers to assist with special events and programs.

You will be responsible for the on-going assessment and revision of Gift of Life Donor Program volunteer programs, including programs, policies and procedures, background checks, handbooks, volunteer materials including any revisions to address updated components (i.e. Family House), as well as, the on-going assessment of Gift of Life volunteer needs and active recruitment and retention of more than 500 volunteers to support on-going community initiatives.

Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, marketing, public health, or related field plus three years experience as a Volunteer Coordinator, or experience coordinating grass roots educational programs for non-profit organizations. Must possess excellent organizational, writing, presentation and leadership skills and the ability to work with community leaders and a diverse group of volunteers. Requires demonstrated competency using Microsoft Office. Valid drivers license, automobile and ability to work weekends and evenings is necessary.
