Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Announces Visual Artist/Educator Fellowships for New Jersey Teachers
Deadline: January 31, 2007

The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation’s (<a href="http://www.grdodge.org/">http://www.grdodge.org/</a>) Visual Arts Initiative was created to enliven the role of the visual arts in New Jersey public schools. The program is designed to give artists time to pursue their own art as well as receive professional development as art teachers.

For the summer of 2007, up to fifteen awards of $5,000 each will be given to visual artists who teach or supervise art in New Jersey’s public schools. Follow-up grants of up to $2,000 each will be made in October of 2007 to enable recipients to implement a visual arts project in their respective schools.

Artist/educators who produce or exhibit works of art beyond classroom examples, have taught the visual arts for at least three years, and will be continuing as visual arts teachers in the school year following the initial $5,000 award are invited to apply.

Applicants are free to pursue summer endeavors that will enable them to develop artistically. Proposals may be for studio time and rental, classes and workshops, art projects, and travel expenses and equipment that relate to artistic pursuits. The program requires the design of a cross-disciplinary visual arts project to be implemented within each recipient’s school, a report and presentation following the initial and follow-up grants, and participation in three meetings.

Application materials are available on the Dodge Foundation Web site.
