AmeriCorps VISTA Project Coordinator, Worksite Development, Philadelphia Youth Network
Posted on: April 17, 2013

Service Description:

The Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA member to support the organization’s efforts to strengthen and sustain WorkReady Philadelphia, the city’s cross-sector partnership dedicated to improving the economic outcomes of the region’s youth by attracting, aligning and investing resources in youth workforce-development strategies. Overseen by the Philadelphia Council for College and Career Success, a committee of the Philadelphia Works Board, and funded by investments from government, employers, foundations, and individuals, WorkReady’s year-round and summer programming provides thousands of young people annually with career exposure and preparation opportunities designed to enhance their understanding and mastery of skills needed to be successful in a 21st century, global economy. PYN serves as the managing partner of WorkReady Philadelphia.

WorkReady Summer employment models, (Service Learning, Work Experience, and Internships), offer six-week paid experiences for youth ages 14-21. In addition, youth engage in targeted contextual learning activities. To ensure that youth consistently have high-quality, educationally-enriched summer work experiences, PYN has targeted the following programmatic and operational area for development: worksite development.

The AmeriCorps VISTA member assigned will assist in planning, implementing and sustaining changes or enhancements in this area, including working with PYN staff to operationalize a system-wide master worksite database.
