Upward Bound Academic Coordinator, Harcum College

Then consider applying for the position of Academic/Program Coordinator for the Upward Bound Program, reporting to the Project Director of the Upward Bound Program. The Academic/Program Director will work directly with High School Students in the Upward Bound Program, will be involved with assisting the Student Development Specialist with English Tutorials and The Parent Association, will plan and participate in all facets of the academic year and summer programs including assisting the Project Director with recruitment and selection of participants in the program.

DUTIES AND REPSPONSIBILITIES:
? Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with all Upward Bound Students and target high school personnel.
? Establish and maintain effective communication with other departments on campus.
? Assist the Student Development Specialist with English tutorials as needed.
? Plan and participate in all facets of the academic year and summer program including academic courses, field trips, staff meetings, dormitory life and parent functions.
? Act as a liaison between Upward Bound and other local programs; e.g., Philadelphia Futures, Say Yes To Education, College Access, etc.
? Assist the Student Development Specialist with planning and facilitating the Parent Association.
? Assist the Project Director with recruitment and selection of participants for the program.
? Work with the computer teacher to develop a newsletter.
? Maintain appropriate documentation and submit reports of all student contact, target high school contacts, and any other issues/concerns.
? Perform other reasonable duties, assigned from time to time, consistent with the goals and objectives of the Upward Bound Program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor?s Degree with a concentration in Education or English. Three years of successful experience working with high school aged students. Knowledge of Upward Bound philosophy helpful. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of WordPerfect.
