The Pennsylvania Department of Education, in partnership with the Center for Schools and Communities, is sponsoring three free regional trainings for 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) grantees, afterschool and social service providers, supporters, and K-12 educators in your region.  These trainings will provide participants with the opportunity to explore the exigent circumstances influencing our students’ educational experiences, including poverty’s impact on brain development, influencers and identifiers of gang participation, and anti-gang prevention strategies.

Regional trainings will be held as follows:

Central Regional Training, Harrisburg – Thursday, May 20, 2010 from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM;
Western Regional Training, Pittsburgh area – Thursday, June 3, 2010 from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Workshop descriptions and online registration are available on the 21st CCLC website at http://www.21stcclc.org.  Participants will be able to choose which of the aforementioned locations they would like to attend.
