Training Series for Licensing for Center-Based Child Day Care Sites

Please be advised of an upcoming training series on Department of Public Welfare (DPW) Licensing for Center-Based Child Day Care Sites being offered through the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania’s Center for Youth Development. Workshop and registration details are listed below. Interested participants may register for individual workshops in the series.

Obtaining Funding for Child Day Care Building Renovation Projects
Wednesday, March 31, 2010
9:00am-11:30am

This workshop is designed to help child day care facilities identify sources of funding for building renovation projects. Participants will be able to identify funding for small renovation projects, understand the requirements for applying for larger amounts of capital funding, as well as understand application requirements for a source of significant funding for child care facility renovation projects.

Complying with Building Regulations as a Prerequisite for Obtaining a Day Care Center License

This workshop is designed to help center-based child day care facilities understand what is involved in obtaining the required license for operating an after-school program in terms of compliance with city and state facilities requirements. Participants will understand how Philadelphia Building Code regulations relate to suitability of a facility for use as a child care space, identify how fire safety and handicapped accessibility requirements impact building design and suitability, as well as understand state Department of Public Welfare (DPW) child care regulations as they relate to facilities.

Organizational Readiness Assessment for Organizations Planning a Renovation Project

This workshop is designed to help organizations prepare for building renovation projects by identifying needed program improvements in areas such as board involvement, fiscal management, and fundraising. The workshop will provide participants with a tool for assessing organizational strengths and areas for improvement, information about how to increase organizational strengths, as well as help participants identify next steps for improving organizational readiness to take on a renovation project.
