The Love Of A King NewCORE Legacy Conversation

The Mayor’s Office of Public Engagement will host it’s first New CORE conversation here at City Hall, entitled “The Love Of A King.” NewCORE (the New Conversation on Race and Ethnicity) and its partners invite our city to join us in its 2018 MLK Legacy Conversations as we continue the lengthy and rigorous journey toward this yet unfulfilled promise. The NewCORE 2018 Legacy Conversations: 80/80, beginning on Sunday, January 14, 2018 – Wednesday, April 4, 2018, will promote and convene 80 days of New Conversations.

NewCORE with its partners (WHYY, Inc; Philadelphia Media Network; Philadelphia Museum of Art; University of Pennsylvania, African American Resource Center and PECO) is leading 80 days of MLK Legacy Conversations amongst Philadelphia neighborhoods and communities for fostering appropriate Reflection, Education and Appreciation toward reconciling the life and martyrdom of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

These Legacy Conversations will consider the historic views and perspectives of Dr. King in matters of continuing social and public significance alongside contemporary resolve to understand and address still compelling issues as injustice, poverty, moral erosion, economic and social disparity, violence and abuse, etc. The Legacy Conversations:80/80, will promote new and stimulating dinner table, neighborhood, classroom, boardroom, coffee house, tavern and contextualized conversations in the personal and social spaces enjoyed by Philadelphians and other stakeholders.
