Teen Café: Educational Inequality and Race, Culture & Mass Media

Posted by on October 24, 2010

The University Community Collaborative of Philadelphia (UCCP)’s Youth Action Scholars will host their first Teen Café of the academic year on Friday, October 29th from 4:30-6:30pm at Penrose Recreation Center, 12th & Susquahanna. Meet, eat with & greet this year’s groups exploring the issues of Educational Inequality and Race, Culture & Mass Media.

The Teen Café is a bi-monthly youth-led, interactive workshop and dinner where teens hang out, eat and learn from each other about issues that affect them. The workshops are facilitated by the Youth Action Scholars, a small group of motivated youth leaders who spend a year closely mentored by a UCCP Leaders Corps member developing expertise on an issue they collectively identify. Over the course of the year, they develop interactive workshops to address their issue and facilitate them at schools, conferences and recreation centers for peers, adults and issue stakeholders. The Youth Action Scholars are also available to conduct workshops for your group or class.

This event is free and open to all youth & allies! To RSVP, please email Phil Scott at apscott@temple.edu.

The Youth Action Scholars and Teen Cafés are generously supported by YOUTHadelphia.
