SWAG (Students With a Goal) Week, PhillyGoes2College

Posted by on March 25, 2013

Please help us get students to SWAG Week!  SWAG Week is coming……

PhillyGoes2College will host its second annual series of free college related activities for middle and high school students during SPRING BREAK, March 25 – 28, 2013.  Activities include:

·  SAT and ACT Tips workshop

·  SAT and ACT practice exams (proctored live to simulate the real thing and followed by lunch with Mayor Nutter and Dr. Hite)

·  City-wide service project working alongside college students and Philly Urban Creators (especially good for those students who need volunteer service hours)

·  Free all-day access to the Franklin Institute

·  Access to many summer opportunities, jobs, and scholarships through an opportunity fair

·  Several special college open houses created specifically for Philly students

·  S.W.A.G. it Up Basketball event (with college information included) – Note: Students must complete a waiver to participate (see website)

Please help!  We ask all community members to help us get students involved in these events so that they can take advantage of these great opportunities and use their free time in a productive way.

Here’s what you can do to help:

·  If you work directly with groups of students, register them as a group for the events.  They are more likely to participate if their friends are going and an adult they trust (you!) is encouraging them to do it.  They can come as a group and rep their school, program, etc.

·  If you know individual students who should be involved, help them register as individuals for the events and encourage them to attend.

·  Share, share, share this information in your classrooms, during your meetings, with your peers, etc.

Please note that all students must attend the orientation  session on March 25th, 2013 (right before the Opportunity Fair and the SAT/ACT workshop) at the Temple University Student Center, 13th and Montgomery Ave, Room 200BC.
