Student Summit on Community Leadership

Posted by on October 15, 2004

Hello colleagues,

I am an educational programmer for the Association of College Unions International (ACUI). Our non-profit organization seeks to build community on college campuses by supporting the work of college unions, student centers, and other campus activities. We have put together a conference which may be of interest to you; I wanted to extend an offer to you to participate.

The conference is the Student Summit on Community Leadership. The Student Summit is a program for students who want to become more actively involved in helping their communities. The mission of the program is to provide participants with the knowledge and resources they need to be actively engaged in providing constructive leadership in their communities. Students will hear keynote speakers highlight the importance of active citizenship, participate in discussions that identify current issues within our society, and understand how they can become part of the solution. They will also experience service learning in action through an activity within the surrounding community.
Students will leave the summit with a renewed passion for changing the world, equipped with action plans for dealing with issues within their own communities. Staff members are also invited to participate.

The conference is October 28-31, 2004 at The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. For complete program information, including a tentative schedule and registration information, please visit ACUI’s web page via the enclosed link. If you have any other questions or comments, I’d be more than happy to address them. Happy fall!
