Strategy for Building Community Schools
Posted by on April 30, 2004
Since 1991, Indianapolis Public Schools and the United Way of Central Indiana together have been developing Bridges to Success (BTS). BTS can be found in 44 schools across the district.
BTS has recently published Doing What Matters: The Bridges To Success Strategy for Building Community Schools. Given the length of the BTS experience and the number of schools involved, Doing What Matters is extremely valuable to the community school field. It includes valuable tools, including “How to Establish a Community Governance Structure”, “Establishing Site Teams at the School Level” and “Developing School-Based Action Plans”. Go to http://www.bridgestosuccess.org/docs/BTS_booklet_web.pdf for more, or email Eric Williams williams@uwci.org for hardcopies.
