General Description:

Reporting to Temple University’s Dean of College of Education and the Director of Programs at Steppingstone Scholars, Inc., the STEAM Coordinator oversees the Middle Grades Academy (MGA) at Dunbar Promise Academy. The MGA is a joint effort between Dunbar leadership, Temple’s College of Education, and Steppingstone Scholars, Inc., which will provide activities-based Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics (STEAM) curriculum with in-school and out-of-school programs that incorporate Steppingstone Scholars’ Support Services and Family Services, instructional support particularly around the STEAM related course work, as well as maximize the use of technology resources at the school. The Coordinator will facilitate communication between Steppingstone Scholars, Temple, Dunbar leadership, school staff, and outside organizations providing services to Dunbar Promise Academy. The Coordinator will spend 75% of their time based at Dunbar Promise Academy and 25% at Steppingstone Scholars/Temple. The position is contingent upon grant funding.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) strategies in the delivery of in-school and out-of-school time programs.
  • Support teachers by developing STEAM related activities that are aligned with Common Core standards and Steppingstone curriculum and identified college success skill sets.
  • Coordinate in-school and out-of-school partner activities.
  • Provide supplemental academic advice to Middle Grades Academy students, including assistance on issues of high school and college choice.
  • Coordinate school based tutoring programs aligned with individualized learning plans and afterschool tutoring programs for Dunbar students who become Steppingstone Scholars.
  • Collaborate closely with Dunbar’s Principal to align all middle grades STEAM activities with the Principal’s priorities for student achievement.
  • Work with School of Education faculty and Director of Programs to coordinate evaluation and research efforts
