Philadelphia Futures provides low-income, first-generation-to-college students with the tools, resources and opportunities necessary for admission to and success in college. Philadelphia Futures is seeking to fill the following staff position to accommodate the organization’s growth in its programming and services. Philadelphia Futures is seeking a professional to join our team as a Sponsor-A-Scholar (SAS) Coordinator.

Our Sponsor-A-Scholar (SAS) Program provides academic programming, personalized college guidance, and long-term mentoring for promising high school students attending Philadelphia’s public high schools.

The Sponsor-A-Scholar (SAS) Coordinator is a high-energy person whoassists in the implementation of a comprehensive college preparation program for promising high school students attending Philadelphia’s public high schools with a goal of supporting college readiness and success. Primary responsibilities include providing year-round college guidance and awareness activities; monitoring and supporting academic progress among students; promoting active engagement in program classes and activities; and fostering positive communication and relationships among students, volunteer mentors, parents and schools.

Demonstrated commitment to the academic success of underrepresented students and a keen understanding of their unique college guidance needs is required. The successful candidate will have substantial experience working with high school students and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, outcomes-oriented environment. Significant college guidance, education or social work background helpful. Master’s degree preferred.

This is a full-time position that reports to the Associate Director for Sponsor-A-Scholar. The position offers a competitive salary based on experience and a full array of benefits.
