Spirit Health Education (S.H.E.) Circle trainings

The Mautner Project, the national lesbian health organization, in collaboration with Mazzoni Center will be offering a free, two-day training in Philadelphia on facilitating S.H.E. Circles.

Saturday, October 27, 2012 – 9:30am to 4:30pm
Sunday, October 28, 2012 – 10:00am to 3:00pm

The Spirit Health Education (S.H.E.) Circle is a unique series developed by African American lesbians for African American lesbians. S.H.E. Circle honors the African traditions of health and healing through the body, mind, spirit connection. This two day Training of Trainers Institute will equip community members to facilitate this 6 part series in their own community covering breast health, reproductive cancer, colorectal cancer, exercise and nutrition, smoking cessation and coming out to your health care provider.

The training will be provided by D. Magrini.  D. Magrini has 20 years of experience in the area of women’s/lesbian health education. In her role as Health Education Coordinator for the Mautner Project, Ms Magrini focuses her energies on the fulfillment of the Mautner Project mission: To improve the health of lesbians and their families through research, advocacy, activism, direct services, education, training & technical assistance locally and nationally. The Mautner Project envisions a health care system that is guided by social justice and responsive to the needs of all people.
