Social Determinants of Health Across the Life-Span: A Current Accounting & Policy Implications November 29 to December 1, 2002 York University, Toronto
The cost is $150 Cdn plus $35 for pre-conference workshop. Distinguished authorities in ten fields provide an up-to-date report on the state of social determinants in Canada and comment on the policy implications.
Canada has been a world leader in conceptualizing the social determinants of health. Until now, however, there has been no systematic accounting of the state and quality of these determinants in Canada. The Social Determinants of Health Conference will increase awareness and understanding of how societal factors such as housing, unemployment, and social inclusion determine the health of Canadians. The goal is to help reduce inequalities in health by profiling advocacy and other efforts that have been successful in improving the health and well being of Canadians.
