Service-learning is an effective project-based strategy that extends learning beyond the classroom and allows students to apply their knowledge in ways that transform their learning experiences while fostering a sense of caring about others. This highly interactive workshop will lead participants through the steps of the service-learning process while highlighting how it fits with the project-based guidelines used in City-funded after school and summer learning programs. Examples of successful projects will be shared and information about local and national resources will be provided!

The Pennsylvania Service Learning Alliance (PSLA) is a collaborative project of the Institute for Global Education & Service Learning, Philadelphia Higher Education for Neighborhood Development (PHENND), and PennSERVE: The Governor’s Office of Citizen Service with support from State Farm Companies Foundation.
