School District seeks parent greeters for first school day
Dr. Arlene Ackerman, CEO of the School District of Philadelphia, has invited parents and community members into the schools on the first day of the new school year, September 4th, to help set up a display, welcome principals, teachers, parents, and students back to school, and distribute apples (for the teachers) in selected schools.
Volunteers are need in neighborhood schools and in some other targeted schools, but the names and locations of the targeted schools have yet to be determined. The District will email the listing of selected to those who agree to participate.
