10:00 AM– Introductions

10:15-11:00 AM– Unifying Strategies for Thriving School Communities: Part 1

Community School strategies could help Philadelphia sustain well-resourced neighborhood schools and pave the way for deeper K-16 partnerships. This session will give participants a chance to review best practices in readiness, planning and implementation. In round table groups, you will use a community schools needs assessment tool and readiness checklist to assess a case study of a Philadelphia neighborhood school.

11:10-12:10– Office of Strategic Partnerships: 2015-2016 Year in Review.

12:30 PM- 1:30 — Lunch and Student Impact Panel: The AVID program 2011-2015

This panel will be a chance to learn from students and tutors from Frankford High School, Harding Middle school and Edison High School

Moderated by, Michelle Grimley, Assistant Director, GEAR UP

1:45 PM – 2:45– Breakout Sessions

Supporting College Success from K-16:

This will be a work shopping and planning session for participants of the At Risk Non-Traditional First Generation (ANTF) training and the College Students in College Readiness (CSCR) group. Participants will share curriculum, assessment and training materials for high school and college students.

Lindy Award for Excellence in K-16 Partnerships Best Practices:

This session will feature a discussion of the development of two university – school partnerships that embody best practices of building mutually beneficial partnerships:

Maria Walker, Project Manager, University & Community Partnerships at Drexel University, will discuss Drexel’s partnership with McMichael School in Mantua.

Dr. Megan Raisch, Education Engagement Specialist and Dr. James Earl Davis Professor of Educational Leadership at the Temple University College of Education, will discuss Temple University’s partnership with Dunbar Elementary School in North Philadelphia.

URBAN Philly: Collaborative Engaged Education Policy Research

URBAN is a research-based action network. It is a cross-disciplinary national network dedicated to supporting collaborative, engaged research on issues impacting urban communities. This session will discuss new collaborative research centered on grassroots education policy movements in Philadelphia. Speakers include,

Dr. Barbara Ferman, Director, University Community Collaborative of Philadelphia at Temple University

Dr. Jody Cohen, Senior Lecturer, Teacher Education Program, Bryn Mawr College
