Teen PSA Contest Sponsored by Missy Elliot & Break the Cycle Opportunity: Public Service Announcement Contest for Teens

Sponsored by: Missy Elliot & Break the Cycle Inc.
Deadline: Monday, January 31, 2005

Got a video camera? Zoom in on this: "The Road to Stardom with Missy Elliott" has teamed up with Break the Cycle in an effort to get the word out about
ending domestic violence.

So how do you fit in? If you’re 13 to 19 years old and attending junior high or high school, you and a group of up to two others can produce your own
"Break the Cycle Challenge" anti-violence PSA (public service announcement) that tells other teens to break the cycle of emotional, verbal and physical
abuse.

DEADLINE: TAPES MUST BE POSTMARKED BY FRIDAY, JAN. 28 AND RECEIVED BY MONDAY, JAN. 31.

You could be one of five finalists who’ll each win a trip for up to six people to Hollywood, where you’ll see the concert finale of "The Road to Stardom with
Missy Elliott." Plus, one finalist will be selected to "go primetime" when your spot is aired nationwide on UPN, and introduced on-air by Missy Elliott.
(Subject to complete official rules.)

What exactly are they looking for? Here are a few tips:
Break the Cycle encourages entries that include:
* Ethnic and geographic diversity
* Images and voices of youth
* Portrayals of both genders as the abusers/victims
* Storylines reflecting emotional, verbal and physical abuse
* Storylines focused on self-esteem and healthy relationships
* Storylines that will empower and motivate youth to break the cycle of violence

Break the Cycle discourages entries that include:
* Excessive violence (gratuitous injuries, blood, gore)
* Weapons, drugs, alcohol, profanity
* Storylines that reflect victim blaming

Send your VHS tape, along with your completed entry forms, to:
