One Step Away is Philadelphia’s street newspaper with a mission to create an accessible income opportunity for people with the greatest barriers to securing employment, while advocating for social justice. Many of the individuals who distribute One Step Away are homeless, vulnerably housed, or in transition, and are learning the skills they need to succeed both personally and professionally. In addition, through the monthly newspaper, we provide a platform for people to have a voice and share their experiences, helping raise awareness to the issues of homelessness and poverty in our city.

We are in our sixth year as a program and are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate person to join as our Communications Coordinator. An ideal candidate has applicable work experience with grassroots nonprofit organizations, can work directly with challenging populations, and cares about making positive changes in people’s lives and the community. We are looking for someone to help our program grow, while still managing the day-to-day tasks of our organization.

The One Step Away Communications Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the monthly newspaper production & design, developing a marketing & communications strategy, and growing our community relations.
