Fund for Shared Insight Seeks Proposal for Projects to Increase Foundation Transparency

The Fund for Shared Insight is a collaborative effort of funders that pools financial and other resources to make grants aimed at improving the impact and effectiveness of philanthropy. The fund emerged from the belief that foundations can be more effective and make an even bigger difference in the world if they are more open — if they share what they are learning and are open to what others are learning, including grantees and the people they seek to help.

To that end, the fund has issued a Request for Proposals from nonprofit organizations that are interested in increasing foundation openness in the service of effectiveness.

The fund expects to provide up to $2 million in grants to promote foundation openness during its 2016-17 funding cycle, awarding project grants of at least $100,000, over either one or two years, in support of efforts designed to increase foundation openness in the service of effectiveness.

To be eligible, applicants must be considered tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. In addition, the grant requested should be no more than 20 percent of the organization’s annual budget in any one year, and the organization must have sufficient capacity to execute the proposal and the capacity/plans to measure results.

The fund is hosting informational conference calls on April 13, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (EST); April 27, 2016, from 10:00 am to 1:00 p.m. (EST); and May 9, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (EST). Registration is required.

See the Fund for Shared Insight website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.

DEADLINE: MAY 20, 2016
