Projects Coordinator – UWSEPA

The primary responsibility of the Projects Coordinator VISTA will be to assist in the development and implementation of United Way’s Education Volunteer Initiative by developing and enhancing partnerships with schools, non profit organizations and the government; supporting programming logistics and developing new education based volunteer opportunities. Additionally they will work to expand the initiative throughout the UWSEPA region and assist in the designing of adjunct educational programming to support the goals of the initiative. The initiative will have 2 principal focus areas, the first will be implementing and expanding an Early Grade Reading Initiative while the second part of this assignment will be the development of an initiative engaging volunteer and community support for youth exhibiting early warning indicators for dropping out of school (EWI youth). Job Responsibilities – Research local and national programs targeting EWI youth identifying best practices, outcome measurements, and volunteer impact areas. – Recommend programming for EWI youth and develop a plan of action based on conducted research. – Lead program implementation of United Way’s Early Grade Reading Initiative and an initiative supporting youth exhibiting early warning indicators for dropping out of school. – Coordinate episodic and ongoing volunteer projects in partner schools – Develop a clear web based path for volunteers to connect to service opportunities in the Education Volunteer Initiative – Organize and facilitate advisory meeting with community leaders and partner organizations – Develop a process for tracking data and outcomes associated with initiative volunteers and target populations.
