Background: Earth Force engages young people as active citizens who improve the environment and their communities. Working with adult educators, Earth Force youth create lasting solutions to environmental problems through community projects.

Earth Force programs are based on a process that enables youth to:
* assess their community and choose a local environmental issue they want to address
* conduct balanced research so they understand the problem from a variety of perspectives
* take action on that issue to enact a long-term solution.

The process combines the best practices of civic action, service learning and environmental education.

Job Description: Part-time position, benefits depending on hours. Reports to the Executive Director.

The Project Coordinator works with the program team and the Executive Director to deliver programs that provide educators and young people with the skills, knowledge and resources to solve local environmental problems through community action projects. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing a pilot program focused on recycling, waste reduction, litter prevention and community waste management. Responsibilities include:

? Developing a pilot education program and integrating the program with academic standards;
? Recruiting teachers and building a network of support for the program;
? Providing quality professional development workshops, guidance and support to educators;
? Developing and implementing mechanisms to communicate effectively with educators;
? Responding to educators? requests for assistance and information;
? Identifying and providing general and targeted resources that will assist educators to complete projects with their students;
? Monitoring educators as they implement the program;
? Organizing networking and professional development gatherings of educators;
? Collaborating with other organizations and building support for the program;
? Visiting classrooms and working with students as they proceed through the Earth Force framework;
? Assembling project stories and administering program evaluation;
? Performing other duties as assigned.

? Experience as a teacher, trainer and/or facilitator
? Proven track record in program management
? Experience in classroom integration, standards or planning assessment for education
? Understanding of and experience in local environmental issues, service learning, environmental education and/or civic action.
? Knowledge of community organizations and agencies
? Polished presentation, facilitation skills
? Ability to perform highly in entrepreneurial environment
? Competency in Microsoft, Access, e-mail, Internet

Requirements: Must have ability to work independently and as a team member, be flexible in work schedule (some evening and weekend work required), and have the means and willingness to travel locally. Must provide own transportation for all work-related activity (will visit schools the Delaware Valley region; some additional travel in state).
