PHS Tree Tenders: University Initiative
Posted by on April 04, 2011
The University Initiative of PHS Tree Tenders® brings colleges and universities and their neighboring communities together to plant and care for community trees along streets, in parks, and in public spaces. PHS Tree Tenders connects universities and communities in positive and powerful ways. Students gain skills and experience working in communities. Institutions and communities benefit as students and residents work side-by-side to both improve the urban tree canopy and revitalize the area. Funded by the USDA Forest Service, the program provides a model for developing partnerships between campus communities and local residents.
